The Assessor’s Roll: A Membership Forum with LA County Assessor Jeffrey Prang

Wednesday, June 23, 2021 (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM) (PDT)

Description

Few elected officials are as familiar with our industry as the Los Angeles County Assessor. Those of you who have ever bought or sold a property already know his role in setting your property taxes.

However, he also collects critical information in his roll to understand how the value of commercial real estate has changed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are excited to have the opportunity to host LA County’s current Assessor Jeffrey Prang to present important trends in commercial property prices based on the Assessor’s Roll, discuss his policy priorities, and provide an update on housing costs and its impact on the current homelessness crisis.

This forum is exclusive to BOMA/GLA members.

About Assessor Jeffrey Prang:

Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang was elected in 2014 as the 27th Assessor for the County of Los Angeles and re-elected in 2018.

Raised in Warren, Michigan, Assessor Prang is a graduate of Michigan State University. After graduation, Mr. Prang relocated to California where he served nearly 18 years as a councilmember for the City of West Hollywood, including four terms as Mayor, among many other positions in the public sector.

Upon taking office in 2014 as the Los Angeles County Assessor, Mr. Prang implemented sweeping reforms to ensure that the strictest ethical guidelines rooted in fairness, accuracy and integrity would be adhered to in his office.

He also worked to provide direct relief to property owners during the COVID-19 emergency by allowing them for late property tax fee waivers if they missed the deadline due to economic hardship.

Assessor Prang is a State Board of Equalization licensed appraiser and administers the largest office of its kind in the nation with 1,200 employees that provides the foundation for a property tax system that generates over $17 billion annually.
